Here at Friday Creek Retreat we are all about setting the scene for our guests to enjoy more time with family, friends and fur babies too. Giving you the chance to gather with the people you love away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And nothing gives us an excuse to slow down and connect better than homemade wood-fired pizza!
When we speak to guests after their stay, time and time again we hear how much people love the whole experience of cooking (and eating) wood-fired pizzas in our scenic poolside BBQ area. Stuart and I take great joy in guiding guests on how to get the pizza oven at just the right temperature for a delicious fire-baked crust.
As much as we love you coming here to enjoy those wood-fired pizzas (and please do keep coming), we’re hoping the joy and connection guests experience here will spread to your homes too, by sharing our homemade pizza dough recipe with you.
Makes 8 small pizzas
2 tsp dry yeast
3 cups plain flour
3 tsp salt
1 ¼ cups water
2 tbsp oil.
Place all ingredients in bowl of bread making machine and set on dough setting.
When finished place in a large oiled bowl, cover with a cloth and leave to rest in a warm place for at least 2 hours until doubled in size.
Divide, then roll each portion out on a floured surface, transfer to a pizza tray, top with fresh picked herbs and your favourite pizza fixings. Then bake in the oven on high heat until base is cooked to your preference. Slice and enjoy!
OR
Place 1 ¼ cups luke warm water in small bowl, add 2 tsp dry yeast and a pinch of sugar (optional), set aside for a few minutes until yeast is active.
Mix flour and salt together in a large bowl. Then make a well in flour mix, add oil and yeast/water mixture. Use a wooden spoon to gently mix until combined, then use hands to knead until a smooth ball of dough is formed.
