We are a Covid safe business - Details Here

As more and more travelers want to bring their beloved pets on holiday, we’re quite proud to fulfill our guests need to welcome four-legged family members here at Friday Creek Retreat.  We’re also lucky enough to be in a region that offers dog friendly activities too!  This month we’re highlighting our favourite dog friendly places to explore here in the Orara Valley and Coffs Harbour region.

Dog Friendly Bushwalks

Whether you’re looking for mountain bike tracks or an adventurous bushwalk, state forests are a great place to start.  Better yet, NSW state forests welcome dogs too!  Self-catering tracks abound in the Orara Valley region, be sure to bring your own water, snacks and pack out any rubbish that accumulates along the way.  We also recommend keeping dogs on lead to ensure your pets and the abundant wildlife stay safe.  The closest state forest bush tracks to Friday Creek Retreat are unmaintained trails located in Orara West State Forest off Dingo Creek Rd.  For a more leisurely well-maintained bush walk head to Orara East State Forest and the trails around Sealy Lookout.

Al Fresco Dining with your Pup

Take in some of our laid back country culture at a few of the small towns along the Orara river.  Enjoy a visit to Nana Glen, for lunch at the Idle in Cafe, with its dog friendly courtyard.  Or head to Coramba for a pint and live music with your pup overlooking the countryside at one of the outdoor picnic tables at the Coramba Hotel.

Make a Splash

While in Coramba, venture down to the Orara river, via the entrance just off Martin Street.  Take a dip in the crisp waters or plan ahead to bring your own kayak for a serene float down the river with your best bud.

Doggy Daytrip to Moonee Beach

One of our final favourite places to go to for all things dog friendly in the Coffs Harbour region is Maggie’s Dog Cafe and Salon.  Located at the Moonee Marketplace shopping centre, Maggie’s is the only cafe in the region that allows your dog to join you inside, at the table for their own tasty treats while you enjoy yours.  They even have a leash-free play area so your dog can get social with other tail waggers.  If  you’re in need of some shopping at the nearby marketplace, Maggie’s kind pack of humans, even offers dog daycare services in a homely air conditioned space.  You won’t want to miss it.

Unwind in your Pet Friendly Cottage

If you’ve come to Friday Creek Retreat just to relax and unwind with your dog by your side, then you’ve come to the right place too Our grounds will give you plenty of space for a four legged wander.  Relax with your doggo in the fenced pool and BBQ area.  Drift off to sleep knowing your pooch is safe inside your cottage with you.

To ensure all guests and retreat property are taken care of during your stay, we require pre-approval of pets.  So be sure to let us know that you plan to bring your pet upon booking.
