With the holidays just around the corner and wedding season in full swing, there’s no surprise that many folks will be popping that special question over the next few months. We’ve been lucky enough to set the scene for several joyful proposals here at Friday Creek Retreat. So it’s about time we shared some insight into how to make a perfect marriage proposal.
Probably the most important tip of them all! Make sure you both are thinking marriage is the next step for your relationship. Then think about how your partner would want to be proposed to. Would they want it to be an intimate moment with just the two of you? Or surrounded by the most important people of your lives? Think of all the things your partner loves, then set the scene from there.
Having a close friend or family member in the know (who can keep a secret), is helpful if you want to hash out your plan or need an extra hand to arrange the details while you play it cool with your partner. Here at Friday Creek Retreat, Judy has been known to get a cottage proposal ready in between guest outings with roses, champagne on ice and even the first photo. Making it easy for the proposer to focus on their partner and those important heartfelt words, before expressing their love.
Of course every proposal requires a bit of planning ahead, and if for some reason those plans get thrown to the wind (or weather), what will you do? Stay calm and go with the flow. Be ready to switch it up and let the perfect moment arise. After all, it will give you good practice for all the unexpected moments that marriage is full of!
If you do decide that a public proposal surrounded by friends (or even strangers) is the right scene for you and your love, be sure to plan some time after the proposal where you can soak up the moment, just the two of you. Touch base with each other and really enjoy this heart pounding occasion.
Whether you plan to celebrate over a bottle of champagne, at a party with your closest friends or in a special place that you can continue to celebrate the memory year after year, make it reflect the joy your love brings to you and soak up every moment!
